MINNEAPOLIS (APRIL 3, 2012) – Open Arms of Minnesota today announced the appointment of Tim Reardon as executive director, effective April 30, 2012.
Reardon comes to Open Arms with 20 years of executive leadership experience, much of which has been in the health and human services sector. Most recently, he has been chief executive officer of the Reardon Group, a consultancy that works with local governments and nonprofits to develop leadership that gets better results with fewer resources. Prior to that, he served as executive director of The Bridge for Youth, a $3.75 million nonprofit dedicated to helping youth in crisis with shelter, support and independent living skills. Reardon also brings international experience, having spent nearly ten years directing the Programa San Francisco de Asis, an organization in Peru that provides cleft palate surgery for children.
Reardon holds a master of public administration from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government, where he was an Archibald Bush Foundation Leadership Fellow. He also holds a master of arts in public affairs from the University of Minnesota.
“We are thrilled to bring Tim Reardon on board as the executive director,” said Tim Meyer, Open Arms board president. “He has a strong track record of leadership in both fund raising and agency operations, and having worked in and around health and human services his entire career, he also brings a passion for social justice. It’s a dynamic time for Open Arms, and the search committee and board feel Tim is absolutely the right person to take us into the future, while maintaining our commitment to our clients and our core mission. ”
“I am delighted and grateful to be working with Open Arms,” said Tim Reardon. “I have fallen in love with the Open Arms mission. Having lost a family member to cancer, I know how vital it is to have people in your life who can provide a good meal during a tumultuous time. I’m grateful to all the people who helped me and know how essential this program is to the most vulnerable people in our community.”
Reardon will report to the Open Arms board and will be responsible for the leadership, vision and financial performance of the organization.
