OPEN ARMS APPOINTS A NEW FOOD SERVICES DIRECTOR

MINNEAPOLIS (MARCH 23, 2011) – Open Arms of Minnesota is pleased and proud to announce the promotion of Assistant Food Services Director Asei Tendle to Food Services Director, effective immediately. In his new position, Tendle will oversee both the core program and Meals on Wheels staff and meal production.
“No one has touched the heart of Open Arms more than Asei has in planning menus, cooking meals, working beside volunteers and supporting our core service and mission with passion,” said Deputy Director Jennifer Van Wyk. “With more than nine years of experience in every part of our kitchen — and a truly infectious laugh — Asei is the right person for this position. We are thrilled for Asei, but even more excited for Open Arms.”
Throughout recent events at Open Arms, Tendle has been stalwart in his commitment to our mission. In light of the leadership transition in the kitchen, he stepped up and worked closely with our interim executive director, Teresa Matsui Sanders, to keep our kitchen operations and our successful partnership with Meals on Wheels on sound footing.
“I’m incredibly honored to represent an amazing team in the kitchen, both the staff and the volunteers,” Tendle said. “I’m also excited to see the kitchen as strong as it can be and in a great place to support the progress of Open Arms towards in its mission. I look forward to seeing what we can do if we continue to enhance our training, volunteer experience and community outreach — it’s just crazy to think of the impact we can have on so many peoples’ lives. What an opportunity.”
