Dear supporters, volunteers, and friends of Open Arms of Minnesota,
I want to provide an update on our work in light of Gov. Tim Walz’s announcement implementing a “shelter in place” order for Minnesota, beginning at midnight on Friday March 27th.
Open Arms of Minnesota is an “essential” business and is part of the Twin Cities’ critical sector response to COVID-19. With this understanding, we can and will continue to operate and deliver meals to our clients with life-threatening illnesses and compromised immune systems. The executive order also defines “workers” and “personnel” as employees, contractors, venders and volunteers. This clearly allows volunteers to continue working with Open Arms during this time.
Please continue to check our website and Facebook regularly for updates as things change quickly.
To ensure that we’re caring for the communities that are being hardest hit, we are encouraging volunteers who are most at-risk from coronavirus (people aged 65 years and older and those with compromised health conditions) or live with people that are in at-risk populations, to stay at home.
Thank you for your support and being part of the Open Arms’ family! On behalf of the vulnerable clients that we are serving – I cannot thank you enough!
As always, please contact me with any concerns or questions. Please stay safe and healthy.
