Medically Tailored Meals for Veterans Get a Boost with New VA and FIMC Partnership
Open Arms of Minnesota proudly supports the recently announced partnership between the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and the Food Is Medicine Coalition (FIMC). This collaboration aims to improve access to medically tailored meals and groceries for Veterans, addressing critical food insecurity that is closely linked to increased risks of chronic illness, depression, and suicidal ideation.
This initiative represents a step forward in supporting the health and well-being of Veterans nationwide, aligning with the Biden-Harris administration’s National Strategy on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health. By connecting food-insecure Veterans with nonprofit organizations like Open Arms, the partnership ensures that Veterans receive critical medically tailored nutrition services that contribute to better health outcomes.
