Open Arms Announces Plans For Inaugural "Great Minnesota Bake Sale"

WHAT: The Great Minnesota Bake Sale

WHEN: June 23 – 29, 2024

WHERE: At participating “Bake Sale” locations throughout the Twin Cities Metro

HOW: Starting June 1, Open Arms will launch an extensive marketing campaign alongside our partners and will encourage the entire community to support our bake sale participants.

WHY: To provide nourishing, medically tailored meals to our neighbors facing life-threatening and critical illnesses.

Since the beginning of time (and beyond being a basic human need), people have used food to foster a sense of community, as well as raise money for important causes. The tradition of bake sales can still be found in church basements, school gyms, and town halls around Minnesota. Staying true to our Midwestern heritage, we’re putting a new spin on this time-honored tradition…The Great Minnesota Bake Sale!

The Great Minnesota Bake Sale is a campaign where a community of partners host a week-long “bake sale” to raise much-needed funds for the life-saving work of Open Arms of Minnesota. By sharing resources and talents, together we can raise awareness for the mission of Open Arms and spotlight the generous culinary community that actively supports our food as medicine initiatives.

Who are the Bake Sale Partners?

The network of bakeries, coffee shops, retailers, online partners, and sponsors that will “host a bake sale” on behalf of Open Arms of Minnesota make up our team of Bake Sale Partners. If you sell cookbooks or baking pans, you too can be a bake sale partner. “Baking” on behalf of Open Arms can happen in a variety of ways… the more bakers, the greater our collective impact!

Design Your Own Bake Sale!

  • Each partner participates by promoting the Great Minnesota Bake Sale and donating a portion of sales to the organization during the week of June 23-29.
  • Support can include sales of specialty items (i.e. special cupcakes, specific cookbooks, etc.), select merchandise, designated percentage of sales/profits, in-store events, online promotions, tip jars, and/or a set monetary donation. We hope to feature some of the most creative bake sales in our media blitz.
