Open Arms of Minnesota

Join our Lunch & Learn livestream series!

You are invited to have lunch with Open Arms of Minnesota! This summer, we are hosting a new livestream series called Lunch & Learn, which gives you behind-the-scenes access to the various gears that comprise the Open Arms engine. Whether we’re livestreaming from the farm or from our South Minneapolis building, the sessions are virtual and free to attend via our YouTube channel. You will even have the opportunity to ask us questions at each session!

To register, please fill out this form (which is also embedded below). You will receive an email confirmation and a direct link to the stream before each event.

All Lunch & Learn events are approximately 50 minutes and begin at twelve noon CDT. We currently have three Lunch & Learn sessions scheduled. Feel free to join us for one, two, or all three sessions—and of course, enjoy your lunch during the session! Here’s what’s coming up:

  • Lunch & Learn #1 (Wednesday, July 15): Open Farms tour (and gardening Q&A!) with Kelly Wilson
Learn about our Open Farms program, which consists of five urban farm locations where we harvest thousands of pounds of produce, some of which are incorporated directly into our medically tailored meals and some is used to sell community shared agriculture (CSA) shares, which support our client meals. Farm Coordinator Kelly Wilson will give a live virtual tour of one of our farm locations, update you on the 2020 growing season, and discuss how you can get involved with Open Farms. Kelly will also answer your own vegetable gardening questions.
  • Lunch & Learn #2 (Wednesday, July 29): Open Arms update with Leah Hébert Welles (CEO)
Open Arms’ CEO Leah Hébert Welles will go live from our South Minneapolis building to provide insight on how Open Arms has navigated through the COVID-19 pandemic, what the future holds for the organization and what we think is coming for the fall and winter of 2020-21. Get the inside scoop on all and any OAM topics directly from Leah.
  • Lunch & Learn #3 (Wednesday, August 12): Learn about Open Arms’ meal services with the Nutrition Team
The last installment for the summer will feature our team of registered dietitians, led by Brianna Tobritzhofer, Director of Nutrition Services. During this session, you will learn about the critical services that our registered dietitians provide our clients as well as what goes into our menu planning with our Open Arms of MN chefs.
