HAPPY PRIDE FROM OPEN ARMS!
June is here, ushering in Pride Month—a time of great significance for Open Arms and our entire community. Our journey began nearly 40 years ago during the HIV/AIDS crisis, and with the support of a passionate and committed community, we have continued to recognize and respond to the needs of vulnerable populations. As writer and former Board member Pam Noone noted in an early piece about the organization, “Open Arms recognizes that the needs of people living with HIV/AIDS are ever present and ever growing. They continue to evaluate their ability to answer these needs and hope they can grow to meet them.”
We are proud to engage in Pride Month through activities in our kitchens, at the Pride festival and parade, and in our daily acts of support and partnership. Since 1986, we have proudly provided made-from-scratch meals to those affected by HIV/AIDS. Today, we celebrate our inclusive mission, welcoming everyone who joins us in nourishing our neighbors in need. We are grateful to our community members who live their truth and stand proudly as allies to our LGBTQ+ friends, remembering and celebrating the lives of those we’ve lost.
We invite all members of the Open Arms family to celebrate Pride Month with us! Open Arms will have a booth at the Twin Cities Pride Festival in Loring Park on Saturday, June 29 and Sunday, June 30. You can find us at Booth #85 along West 15th Street in the Blue Section. Check out the festival map HERE for the full layout.
We are also looking forward to participating in the Twin Cities LGBTQ+ Pride March Honoring Ashley Rukes on Sunday. Please be sure to check out our online shop, where we have some new Pride-themed merch available for purchase with all the proceeds benefiting our clients. Click HERE to see the store!
Happy Pride Month from all of us at Open Arms of Minnesota!
